Image Artist Statement: I am a Brighton based artist and studied Fine Art at Nottingham Trent University. Each year I participate in the Brighton open house/studio exhibitions.

My paintings are either self portraits or are based on close female friends of mine. The original images are selected from snapshots in which the subject is highly aware of the viewer. Colors are usually highly saturated and contrasting. The captured glances convey poignant moments and experiences, whether physical or emotional, that have etched themselves into the subject's face. The close-up self-portraits display private, unguarded, and awkward moments candidly expressed.

Pale, clammy faces. Blemished and gurning. Horrifying and beautiful.
Raw and uncomfortable. Suppression and power.

Malgorzata Jasinska: Artist Statement

My curse is my gift. My nightmares, deep sensitivity, and emotional instability gives the best (and most uncomfortable) inspirations I could ever have. For me, art is passion - and visions are the mirror, which show my feelings and connect me with the rest of the world.   Read More...
