Biography: You are all welcome to enter through the mystical, shimmering door of Susan Miller's magic palette art studio. Georges Braque once said, "There is only one valuable thing in art; the thing you cannot explain." And here is the essence of Sue Miller's art: the timelessness of eternity, beyond and outside time. That mysterious ingredient of creativity that stands entirely apart from style. She literally burns with inspiration and always has. Art is her life and life is her art. Whether she is painting fairies, children, angels, mythology, clowns, nature, portraits, or on large breathtaking canvases, you get a sense of wild imagination, enchanting innovation, and breathless fantasy. The canvases are like exquisite visions on the sails of a ship you just know will take you to a safe port.
Sue Miller was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts, daughter of musician and painter Tony Pacheco, who was her first inspiration. A true renaissance man, her earliest memories were the smell of oil paint and turpentine and vibrant gypsy jazz guitar music that flowed endlessly from the soul and fingertips of her father. She began painting and drawing at a young age, studied fine art at Southeastern Massachusetts University, had private art lessons with the legendary painters, Milton Healy and Rachel Farrington, and after working as a professional graphic artist for 20 years, opened up her own studio and art school in Northwestern New Jersey.
Miller's work appears in several popular fantasy art books and countless magazines and newspapers. She recently signed a licensing agreement with The Fairy Society (http://www.thefairysociety.com/), which is a group of today's most beloved fantasy artists. Her work will be licensed and produced into many different products, including greeting cards, calendars, poly resin figurines, tea pots, mugs, pocketbooks, and more. She also has an online fantasy art gift shop featuring hundreds of collectable gift items.
One thing the observer of Sue Miller's art notices immediately is the juxtaposition of innocence and wisdom, hope and humanity, and a desire to suggest something not quite remembered, possibly dreamed. Perhaps that comes from a fairy tale New England childhood, a warm close family, glorious butterfly summers, life affirming springs, Currier and Ives winters, and Rembrandt autumns.
In these turbulent and terrible times, Sue Miller's paintings remind us that above the dark and heavy clouds is a still smiling sun always wanting to shine. Her paintings make a difference in this world by re-establishing morals and values that have been lost from art for a long time. When the viewer leaves the familiar world to enjoy Sue's paintings, they emerge slightly changed; something honest and pure has been added to their souls: imagination and possibility.

My curse is my gift. My nightmares, deep sensitivity, and emotional instability gives the best (and most uncomfortable) inspirations I could ever have. For me, art is passion - and visions are the mirror, which show my feelings and connect me with the rest of the world. Read More...
