I try not to limit myself to one medium, but rather explore any discipline that will convey my creative voice. The majority of my work has a subtext of nostalgia ... that is the foundation from which I build upon. I provide the viewer with both something familiar and something new. {quotes}I have always been an artist ... I don't remember a time when I wasn't trying to "make something."{/quotes}
If I can't find what I'm looking for on the market, I will make it myself. I think that is how my greeting card line evolved. I stopped buying cards and started making my own. When I discovered that some of my friends and family members not only look forward to receiving them, but some actually collected them and framed them, I decided to manufacture some of my favorite designs for public use.
I love books! I made my first book when I was 7 years old (I still have it). It is really primitive, comprised of construction paper, staples and cardboard ... I think my books have come a long way in the last 35 years. I make books by commission because each one is custom made for the client. When a client commissions a book it is with something very special in mind, therefore each book is one of a kind.
My jewelry developed after my late grandmother gave me a box of her antique buttons. They were so beautiful that I wanted to make bracelets out of them. After my grandmother passed, my aunt found another box of buttons and gave them to me echoing my grandmother's very words, "Maybe you can make something with these." That's when I knew I had to go forward with the design process.
In addition to works for sale, I make it a habit to give freely when possible. In my spare time I have been exploring the art of pregnancy portraits. My interest in this area stems from my recent experience of pregnancy and the birth of my son, Satchel. It was profoundly beautiful and incredibly powerful. That span of time in the last stage of pregnancy, just before birth, is so full of love and anticipation. I try to capture that feeling in my portraits. I don't charge for the service as I think of it as my gift to mother and child.
My Life's Mission:
To be myself always. To create the things I see in my mind. To inspire others. To honor my every breath and be thankful for life. To dance and laugh as much as I can.

Orna Ben-Shoshan: Artist Statement
As an auto-deduct artist, my work is not attached to any particular location or timeframe, and it’s free from any familiar set of rules. My creation is a medium of transferring knowledge about things that are beyond linear time and thinking.
It is said that observing metaphysical art induces lucidity and reduces stress. Many people who view my artwork comment that they can deeply connect to what they see, even though they do not necessarily understand it. In others it simply evokes positive and uplifting feelings as they are influenced by it subconsciously. Read More...
