you think of cold and ice bare branches and black skies tracks that get lost in the snow
i think of stars to find my way by flames that lick the night away the softness of your skin, of your fur, of your sighs
i will help you dig so that we can burrow in together for the winter season
you will bring me branches of ice, as beautiful as diamonds which will melt but i will have had them for a while
and when the snow has melted all paths will lead to the river but you wont see me there
look to the sky and the horizon i will be wearing wings the ones you gave me and i will take you with me
About the Author
Annette Marie Hyder is a freelance journalist/editor, artist and author.
She sees life as a poem that is constantly altering its form to accommodate one's world view/experiences: sometimes a sonnet, sometimes haiku, sometimes graffiti on a wall. She believes that in love you should not say it with flowers, you should say it with words. Diamonds, however, are always acceptable.
