Oh. My. God.

For those who still somehow believe that there isn't a need for feminism in this country - or that Hillary Clinton and her race for U.S. President isn't facing some serious (and now, even VIOLENT!) sexism, check this out; Keith Olbermann of MSNBC is now suggesting that the best way to get Hillary to quit running for President is to "beat" (yes, physically beat) her:

Keith Olbermann at MSNBC (who, like many others in the media, has been sexist in his remarks towards Hillary from the get-go) is now suggesting that the only way to "beat" Hillary is to literally do so: that is, physically "beat her." The actual quote (transcripted from yesterday's Huffington Post article by Rachel Sklar) says it all:

Howard Fineman: "some adults somewhere in the Democratic party to step in and stop this thing, like a referee in a fight that could go on for thirty rounds. Those are the super, super, super delegates who are going to have to decide this."

Keith Olbermann: "Right. Somebody who can take her into a room and only he comes out."

Since then, according to Sklar, MSNBC has had someone issue the following apology:

It is a metaphor. I apologize: the generic "he" gender could imply something untoward. It should've been "only the other comes out - from a political point of view." You could've called for reaction first if your main motive had merely been criticism.

Are. You. Fucking. Kidding. Me?!? 

Personally, while absolutely horrified - and enraged - by this I am, in a way, hoping that this will bolster her campaign, that women - and men, too, for that matter - will step forward and offer their support to a woman who is not only the best candidate, but who is also clearly being the target of unmistakably sexist attacks.

Ladies, this is our chance. We must stand together against these very obvious sexist - and VIOLENT! - attacks. We must tell the media that this is just. not. acceptable. AND, we can let these mo-fos know that feminism is most definitely alive and well... and for a very good reason.
