“I am”

I am a runner, obsessed with the endorphin rush achieved after a foot-pounding adventure.

I am a writer, seduced into making every day, every dream, every feeling a story.

I am a knowledge-seeker, whose realm of discovery lies in books, novels, cinematic tales, slices of artistic expression, and everyday experiences.

I am a photographer, striving to capture that perfect moment so that its glory, its splendor, its essence can transcend into the eyes of its viewer with a single glance.

I am a daydreamer, whose ambitions and goals lead me in an endless exploratory flight across a sensational blue sky.

I am a dancer, whose body is exhilarated by an evening belonging to rhythm and pulses of an ecstatic melody.

I am a best friend, serving with ears of compassion and enthusiasm, excited to be a grand part of both of my dear sisters’ lives.

I am compelled, success-driven, complex, and at times lunatic.

But before anything….

I am mother and a wife
and in that I find freedom.

I am not afraid to say it. Because in this day and age, these title-bearers are shamed, ridiculed into believing that they harbor no sense of identity of their own since they serve in these traditional roles. Mother and wife are usually the last on the list of descriptions because they are misrepresented as robbers of female individualism, demoting a woman’s independence, concealing a woman’s right to another existence.

But it is in these roles that I derive strength.

To see the faces of my children, to witness the beauty of their youth, to take in their growth and budding maturity over the years simply captivates me. To know that I have been chosen to rear these borrowed small beings into the inimitable, exceptional adults that will take the world by storm is a God-granted honor. I accept the challenge with pleasure and poise. After all, why wouldn’t I rise to the occasion? I am woman. I am a mother.

Love is a beguiling journey. One can be in love many times but to stay in love, that’s where the euphoria truly exists. To be with someone for years, basking in the good times, growing in the bad takes the perseverance only true love can sustain. You see anyone can be in a relationship, but to maintain vows to cherish that relationship takes potent and passionate devotion. To carry this title is a privilege not a right. Now, can you see why I am proud to say…I am a wife.

Being a mother and a wife fuels me and is in every crevice of the woman that I am. The spheres of a woman’s life are endless and encompassing. To be a woman is to embrace everything and ravish in every minute of it.
