There's so much sweetness here
day after day.
I want it to be forever
as they say.

it must decay.
I will choose to love you anyway.

Aimee Norwich
Aimee Norwich, a composer, musician, producer and instrument designer, is devoted to creating positive, transformative experiences for listeners through employing lyrical melodies and vibrant noise-scapes in a thoughtful and meaningful way. Aimee creates a thought provoking musical setting, both in her recordings and live performances.  Aimee hopes that listeners may benefit from these sounds, pertaining to their connections to self, community and nature. By mastering extended techniques on the bass, deriving compositional systems from chance operations, crafting songs as well as complex sonic pieces, and using various technologies, Aimee covers a broad range of musical composition while maintaining a characteristic sound often described as otherworldly.

Aimee writes, produces, records, and mixes her music, as well as producing and recording other artists who seek out her talents, in her home studio in Brooklyn, NY. She built the analog / digital studio herself, from deciding what gear would facilitate her creative process, to actually building many of the electronics that she uses. This hands-on approach is key in Aimee getting the unique sonic qualities of Aimee's recordings.

Aimee holds degrees in electronics and music and uses creativity and skill to design and build original instruments and attain pristine recordings. In the studio and at live performances one of Aimee's unique inventions, a hybrid ¼ bass and ¾ guitar instrument contributes to Aimee's signature sound. This invention required Aimee to develop a new playing technique and unconventional tuning to achieve the final result, the performance of a guitar and a bass player coming from one person simultaneously.

A Jacksonville, Florida native, currently living in Brooklyn, Aimee spent many years experimenting with several different musical creations, eventually settling on designing the instruments and electronic systems that would propel Howard Jones to write:

"I came across a fascinating musician today, [Aimee] plays bass but makes it sound like a million different instruments…"

Instrumentation

Aimee Norwich plays a Hybrid Bass, which is an instrument that she invented, oscillator (she built), various FX pedals, loop stations and drum machine.
