Beanpod Candles are earth-friendly, soy-based candles made from the finest all-natural ingredients - with no toxins or harmful pollutants. From spa retreats to intimate dinners, Beanpod Candles will help you create a perfect (and safe) mood for any occasion.

I received two of their more popular scents for review: Orange Spiced Tea with hints of orange, clove, and cinnamon (it smells like one of my favorite teas, Constant Comment) and Earthy Embrace, a lighter, clean, and refreshing scent that's to die for. And I must say that the aroma of these candles are a deal-maker for me: they're not too perfumey (like many candles these days), but are still fresh, fun, and - well - feminine. Lighting the candles emits a light - but not overpowering - scent. Plus, what can beat the mood lighting created by candlelight? Romantic. Sassy. Fabulous.

Even better is that Beanpod Candles are good for you and your family. Have you ever lit a regular, wax-based candle and noticed black smoke coming from the wick? That indicates the presence of toxins being released into the air. With Beanpod Candles, which are made entirely from soy, there is no black smoke; no toxins are released into the air. They are clean burning, made from renewable and biodegradable soy wax, and are safe for the entire family. Plus, because soy burns at a lower temperature than traditional wax-based candles, they burn much longer, providing more bang for your buck (and we all know how expensive candles can get).

Honestly, the only downside for me is that these fabulous candles aren't easy to find for online shoppers. They aren't available for purchase directly through Beanpod nor through their home company SoyBasics; they only sell direct to retailers. And the official website only features in-person store locators, whereas I wish they would also list places online where you can shop for Beanpod Candles. At any rate, they're worth it - if you don't mind hunting around a bit. I did find them at Amazon.com (reasonably priced at $16.99 for a 16oz. jar), or you can visit www.beanpodcandle.com to find a store near you. Image

About the Author

Carly Hope Finseth spends much of her time pondering what she wants to be when she grows up. She alternates between days filled with cozy socks, hot tea, and meditative reflection - and others, which are loaded with caffeine fixes, grueling commutes, and one fire to put out after another. When she’s not sifting through e-mails, dropping her cell phone, or sticking another reminder Post-It on her desk, Carly also somehow finds the time to write and reflect on important (and the occasional not-so-important) feminist issues.
