The premise is perhaps a little bit odd, but still oh-so-clever: chocolate as art... in the form of sushi. Koo-Ki Sushi is a line of chocolates that look (pretty much exactly) like sushi. Sound weird? Well, okay, it kind of is a bit "kooky." But it's also fun - and makes for a wonderful gift idea.
Fans of sushi will love these intricately designed chocolates and gift boxes that look exactly like sushi. From rolls to sashimi, and even down to little tiny bottles of "soy sauce" (melted dark chocolate inside a fish-shaped bottle), dollops of "wasabi" (a green tea flavored confection), peeled mounds of "ginger" made from white chocolate, and handcrafted chocolate "chopsticks" - the entire line looks so incredibly real. The art of Koo-Ki Sushi is downright amazing and more than enough to "wow" your gift recipient or, at the very least, start up some fabulous conversation.
The Japanese sticky rice of the artistic confections are actually rice cookies; the seaweed wrappers are actually thin wrappers of dark chocolate. Fish eggs are represented by teeny-tiny gummy candies; and the fish itself is represented from everything from strawberry to almond flavored confections, and from chocolate to caramel. Your brain may be tricking you into thinking you're sinking your teeth into a piece of fish, but your tastebuds will soon confirm that it is, indeed, delectable chocolate. It's weird - but also very cool, and the artistry cannot be ignored.
Those who don't love sushi, however, may be a bit taken aback - thinking, for instance, that you actually bought them sushi. Because while they look incredible and taste amazing, too, you have to be willing to take that first step to bite into one in order to find out. I, for instance, had a family member who couldn't even take a bite - even after much prodding and encouragement - because she can't stand the idea of eating sushi... And so, for those people, this might be an idea to take elsewhere. For everyone else, though, Koo-Ki Sushi (which is aptly named, by the way) is oh so much fun.
